Peruvian Kilim belonging to the years of 1920 to 1930

This Kilim , made from Lama woolen fibers (South American camel), is woven with unique technique, designs and drawings which are taken from Asian and Middle East kilims. These kilims are commonly used as coverlets .

From point of quality view, Lama’s fibers are finer and tinier than sheep wools . They are not smeared with any kind of wool fat (lanolin-existing animal fat on the sheep skins).

Using pairs and parallel wraps and woofs which are woven as clothes, is the applying method and technique in Peruvian Kilims. Its designs and drawings are created by weaving the colored woofs between cream colored wraps. This weaving technique is the same as technique that is applied in weaving Mexican Poncho and it is also similar to Iranian Jajim .
